Trump celebrates Greene’s resignation

President Donald Trump gloated over Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-GA) sudden resignation Friday night, just one week after their public falling out.

Greene announced her resignation after Trump denounced her and withdrew his endorsement of her. The two traded blows in the following days, with Trump accusing her of disloyalty and turning a personal feud into a political one, while Greene claimed the president was only mad about her support of the bill to release documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. After Greene’s resignation, the president positioned himself as the obvious winner of the feud.

“Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown, because of PLUMMETING Poll Numbers, and not wanting to face a Primary Challenger with a strong Trump Endorsement (where she would have no chance of winning!), has decided to call it ‘quits,’” he announced in a post on Truth Social.

“Her relationship with the WORST Republican Congressman in decades, Tom Massie of Kentucky, also known as Rand Paul Jr. because he votes against the Republican Party (and really good legislation!), did not help her. For some reason, primarily that I refused to return her never ending barrage of phone calls, Marjorie went BAD,” Trump added.

Despite his barrage of insults, Trump appeared to end his message on a positive note, favorably alluding to their previous alliance.

“Nevertheless, I will always appreciate Marjorie, and thank her for her service to our Country!” he concluded.

The feud between Trump and Greene had gotten increasingly contentious throughout the week, with Greene going so far as to compare herself to victims of Epstein and accuse Trump of endangering her life. Trump tapped into his famous nickname-making abilities, coining the Georgia Republican’s new nicknames of “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene” and “Marjorie Taylor Brown,” explaining the latter as “Green grass turns Brown when it begins to ROT!”

Greene, who has served in the House of Representatives since 2021, announced on Friday that she will be leaving the lower chamber, effective Jan. 5, 2026. She maintained in her resignation message that Trump turned on her due to her advocacy for Epstein’s victims.

Trump blamed her turn on bitterness over his refusal to support her gubernatorial run in Georgia and failure to return her phone calls.
