Broncos’ Vance Joseph to interview with 4 more teams for head coach; Raiders to interview Davis Webb

Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph will be very busy with interviews this week.

After the Tennessee Titans lined up an interview with Joseph on Monday for their head coach opening, sources said the Arizona Cardinals, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons followed suit Tuesday. That means every NFL team with an opening for a coach except the Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Ravens, who just fired John Harbaugh on Tuesday, has been linked so far to Joseph.

Also, a source said the Raiders have put in a request to also interview Broncos offensive pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Davis Webb for their head position. Webb, 30, is a former NFL quarterback in his third season as a Denver assistant.

With the Broncos (14-3) having earned a bye as the AFC’s top playoff seed, Joseph and Davis are permitted to have remote interviews this week. They will be concluded before Denver returns to practice Friday in preparation for a divisional playoff game at home Jan. 17 or 18.

Joseph, who was the Broncos’ head coach from 2017-18, could be in line for a homecoming with the Cardinals. He was their defensive coordinator from 2019-22 before returning to Denver as a coordinator in 2023 under head coach Sean Payton.

The Cardinals are seeking a coach after firing Jonathan Gannon on Monday. Also Monday, the Raiders fired Pete Carroll and the Falcons ousted Raheem Morris. The Giants fired Brian Daboll on Nov. 10 before Mike Kafka finished the season as interim coach.

Webb, who played in the NFL from 2017-22, is considered an up-and-coming offensive mind. If he doesn’t land a position as a head coach, he is a candidate to become an offensive coordinator with another team.

Broncos activate Reid, add to practice squad

The Broncos might have their 53-man roster set for the start of the playoffs.

Denver on Tuesday activated rookie linebacker Karene Reid off injured reserve to fill an open spot. They also signed defensive back Tanner McAlister to the practice squad and the agent for offensive lineman Geron Christian told The Denver Gazette that his client, waived Monday, will sign with the Broncos’ practice squad.

The Broncos had a open roster spot Monday when they waived Christian and tight end Marcedes Lewis and promoted quarterback Sam Ehlinger from the practice squad. If the Broncos had not activated Reid by Tuesday, he would have had to spend the rest of the season on injured reserve after he was designated for return Dec. 17.

Reid missed seven games after suffering a hamstring injury Nov 6 against the Raiders. However, he has been a full participant in practices in recent weeks.

McCalister appeared in three games with Denver in 2024 before being waived last June. He was then with the New York Jets in training camp and spent the bulk of 2025 on Kansas City’s practice squad without getting into a game. He will provide depth with safety P.J. Locke having missed the second half of Sunday’s 19-3 win over the Los Angeles Chargers with a leg injury.

Christian’s agent, Vince Taylor, said his client, who cleared waivers Tuesday, will be on the Broncos’ practice squad when they return to practice Friday. Christian had been plucked Nov. 11 off Dallas’ practice squad and was inactive for all Denver games the rest of the season.

Lewis, 41, also cleared waivers Tuesday but might not return to the practice squad. A source said that barring a setback, the Broncos could designate tight end Lucas Krull for return from injured reserve by opening up his 21-day practice window Friday. Krull has been out since suffering a fractured fifth metatarsal in his left foot during an Oct. 2 practice and undergoing surgery.

All-Pro teams announced Saturday

The official NFL All-Pro teams will be announced Saturday, and the Broncos have plenty of candidates for first- or second-team honors.

Among Denver’s candidates are defensive tackle Zach Allen, outside linebacker Nik Bonitto, cornerback Pat Surtain II, guard Quinn Meinerz, tackle Garett Bolles and wide receiver Courtland Sutton, who all were named to the Pro Bowl Games, and safety Talanoa Hufanga, slot cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian and returner Marvin Mims Jr..

The Broncos last season had Surtain, Meinerz and Mims named first-team All-Pro and Allen and Bonitto on the second team.
