2 fires reported just hours apart at same Westminster apartment complex

Crews from the Westminster Fire Department responded to two fires at the same apartment complex that occurred just hours apart Thursday.

The first fire was reported Wednesday night just before midnight in building eight at the Village of Greenbriar at 8290 N. Federal Blvd., according to Westminster Fire. All residents were evacuated.

A spokeswoman for Westminster Fire said that two Westminster police officers suffered from smoke inhalation as they assisted residents with the evacuation. One of them was taken to a hospital for treatment but has since been released.

Around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, firefighters responded to the same building at the complex for another fire. SKY9 flew over the fire and flames were visible on the roof. The fire has since been declared under control.

Residents of all the units have been displaced, according to Westminster Fire. There were no reports of injuries from the second fire. The causes of both fires are under investigation. As part of that investigation, they’re looking into whether the fires are connected.
