Broncos to sign OLB Andrew Farmer to practice squad, DE John Franklin-Myers ’50-50′ for Tampa Bay

Farmer was undrafted in 2023 out of Lane College before signing with the Los Angeles Chargers

The Broncos on Wednesday will sign outside linebacker Andrew Farmer to the practice squad, a source said Tuesday.

Farmer was in Denver on Tuesday preparing to take part in Wednesday’s practice. After Farmer is signed, the Broncos will need to make at least one roster move since their practice squad is currently full.

The Broncos could put right tackle Mike McGlinchey on injured reserve after he suffered a knee injury against the Steelers. Players on injured reserve must miss at least four games and McGlinchey is expected to be out about that long. If that move is made, a player could be signed off the practice squad to the 53-man roster.

Farmer, who worked out with the Broncos two weeks ago, will provide depth in practice. Outside linebacker Baron Browning suffered a foot injury in the first half against the Steelers and did not return. A source said Browning had an MRI on Monday.

The Broncos also against Pittsburgh lost defensive end John Franklin-Myers for the game in the first quarter with a mild concussion. A source said it is “50-50” whether Franklin-Myers will be able to play Sunday at Tampa Bay and more will be known about his status Friday.

Farmer was undrafted in 2023 out of Lane College before signing with the Los Angeles Chargers. He got into eight games for them in 2023, playing 60 snaps on defense and 48 on special teams. In two games against Denver, he played 15 snaps on defense and five on special teams.

Denver’s only official roster move Tuesday was waiving outside linebacker Ronnie Perkins off injured reserve.
