Aurora pedestrian killed in crash
The crash closed down roads at S. Peoria Street and Parker Road in south Aurora, near Interstate 225
A man died after being struck by a vehicle in Aurora early Sunday morning, according to the Aurora Police Department.
Police said alcohol is being considered a leading contributor to the crash.
The crash closed down Peoria Street and Parker Road in south Aurora, near Interstate 225, for roughly 10 hours, according to Aurora police, who reported the crash on social media platform X.
Police had closed all southbound lanes of Parker Road near the scene of the incident. As of 4 p.m., APD said, all roads reopened.
The crash occurred around 6 a.m., according to police, and remains under investigation.
Initial investigations determined a white Infiniti SUV was speeding southbound on Parker Road when the driver lost control, crashed into another vehicle and then hit a pedestrian, police said.
The pedestrian died of his injuries at the scene, according to police, adding two occupants of the SUV were uninjured.
Police said they arrested Jose Perez, 24, for vehicular homicide, reckless driving and driving under the influence.
