Woman found dead in Boulder Creek after falling from e-bike
The 65-year-old woman was riding bikes in Boulder Canyon with her husband on Friday
Emergency responders found a woman dead in Boulder Creek on Friday following was police called a “tragic accident.”
The Boulder City and County Communication Centers began receiving emergency calls around 4:30 p.m. Friday reporting that a woman was found floating face down in Boulder Creek in Boulder Canyon, according to a press release from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
Through information from the woman’s husband and bystanders, responders were able to find the 65-year-old woman near the 40-mile marker of Boulder Canyon, just west of a popular swimming area, according to the press release. She was removed from the water. Emergency professionals took her to a nearby ambulance and attempted resuscitation.
“Despite continued CPR and life support measures administered by firefighters, police officers, deputies and dive team professionals, the woman tragically succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a local hospital,” the sheriff’s office said.
Preliminary investigations found that the woman was riding e-bikes with her husband along the bike path near the creek. She then fell off her bike and into the water near Boulder Canyon and Four Mile Canyon.
“This incident highlights the importance of safety while recreating in Boulder County, especially near water sources that may appear deceptively calm but can be hazardous. First responders urge the community to exercise caution and be aware of the potential dangers posed by local waterways,” the sheriff’s office said.
