Award-winning reporter Spencer Soicher joins 9News
Soicher is the son of Marc Soicher and nephew of Drew Soicher
A well-known, award-winning reporter is returning to Colorado, bringing a recognizable family name back to the airwaves at 9News.
Colorado native Spencer Soicher will join 9News as a multimedia journalist, he announced via social media platform X on Wednesday.
“I grew up dreaming of wearing the little 9 pin on my jacket,” Soicher wrote. “That pin has been in front of so much Denver history.”
Soicher’s father, Marc Soicher, was a longtime sports broadcaster in the Denver-area with stints at CBS 4, 7News and later Fox Sports Network Rocky Mountain. His last position in broadcasting was as a contributing sports broadcaster for Fox 31 in 2013.
Drew Soicher, brother of Marc and uncle to Spencer, spent years at 9News as a sports anchor, was known for his often-humorous approach to sports reporting, which included a collection of bobble heads. Drew Soicher left 9News in 2016.
Spencer Soicher joins 9News after a stint of just over a year in San Diego at ABC affiliate 10 News. Prior to that, he served as a weekend anchor and reporter in Colorado Springs at KRDO 13.
His previous reporting in Colorado included coverage of the Marshall Fire and the Club Q shooting, which was recognized with multiple Edward R. Murrow Awards and an Emmy nomination.
Soicher is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to that, he was a graduate of Denver’s East High School.
“Mom, I’m home!” he concluded in his announcement.
