Don Trump Jr. to create Drudge-esque news aggregator
Donald Trump Jr. is starting his own news aggregator app Monday.
Several former Trump staffers, including Trump Jr., have partnered up to jump-start “MxM,” a news aggregator app that they hope will challenge the aggregation services of Apple News, Google News, and the Drudge Report. MxM, or “Minute by Minute,” will be a free mobile news aggregation app that curates news and claims to provide “Mainstream News without Mainstream Bias,” a swipe at perceived bias against conservatives in existing aggregators.
“We created the MxM News app to help people cut through that clutter and get trustworthy news and information about topics that matter and impact their lives,” Trump Jr. told Axios. “We view it as an important public service and also believe it will be a great business.”

The app, created by Trump Jr. and former Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich, was partially funded and designed by Telegraph Creative, whose CEO is former Trump White House aide Cliff Simmons. The company intends to build its initial userbase before seeking additional funding rounds.
The MxM app, which is available on iOS and Android, is looking to disrupt mobile news the way the Drudge Report did with online publishing in the 1990s and Fox News disrupted cable news, a spokesperson told Axios.
While conservatives have previously turned to the Drudge Report to curate news, the site has seen its traffic dip in recent years. Drudge was a top-10 referrer of internet traffic for several years up until 2018, according to content analytics site Parse.ly. The site has been uprooted by other mainstream aggregators such as Apple News and Google News in the years since.
Drudge experienced a 45% drop in traffic year-over-year in September 2020, according to The Wrap. While 47.8 million people visited the website in November 2021, only 44.5 million viewed it in January, according to Similarweb.com.

The news aggregator lost credibility with the pro-Trump conservative community due to the website’s decision to post more Trump-critical content during his term, paving the way for Trump allies such as Fox News commentator Dan Bongino and former Drudge Report editor Joseph Curl to make their own bids to counter Drudge’s influence. While these competitors are attracting notable traffic, their numbers are nowhere near the tens of millions that Drudge continues to attract monthly.
Former President Donald Trump has made his own efforts at building a social network with TRUTH Social, which launched on Feb. 21. However, the app has struggled to bring followers in due to technical problems and a long waitlist.
