Two additional lawsuits filed against United Airlines over Broomfield plane explosion
Two more people have filed civil lawsuits in Illinois against United Airlines for women who were on a plane when its engine exploded over Broomfield in February.
The newest lawsuits were filed by Clifford Law Offices on behalf of Cynthia Pugh and Kelli Dennis of Raymore, Missouri. Since the Feb. 20 incident, nine people have filed civil suits against the airline.
Pugh and Dennis are seeking compensation in the Circuit Court of Cook County for damages as a result of the “emotional trauma passengers experienced on that flight,” according to a news release.
“Maintenance and inspection protocols should be in place that would prevent this type of horror from happening in the first place,” Robert A. Clifford, the founder and senior partner at the law firm in Chicago, said in the release. “These lawsuits will get to the bottom of what happened here so that these passengers can try to find some peace of mind as they attempt to continue with their lives.”
United Airlines flight 328, a Boeing 777-222, was headed to Honolulu from Denver International Airport. Within four minute of take-off, the plane’s right engine failed and became engulfed in flames.
The pilots returned to the airport and successfully landed the plane with no injuries being reported by the 239 passengers and crew members onboard. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident.
