Section of I-70 to shut down this weekend in Colorado
A stretch of I-70 located in the heart of Denver will close in both directions starting Friday evening and lasting until Monday.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), I-70 will close between Interstate 270 and Steele Street/Vasquez Boulevard as construction crews demolish the old Colorado Boulevard Bridge. The closure, part of CDOT’s Central 70 Project, will start at 10:00 p.m. Friday night (June 26) and last until 5:00 a.m. on Monday morning (June 29).

During the closure, motorists will be detoured to Colorado Boulevard and west on the new 46th North Avenue to access Steele Street. See the detour map below.

Travelers should also anticipate a traffic shift Friday for southbound lanes onto a new portion of the new bridge structure. The westbound I-70 off-ramp to Steele/Vasquez will permanently close on June 29.
