Former Blake Street Tavern set to reopen
As baseball returns to Coors Field this weekend, a familiar gathering place just steps away is preparing for a comeback of its own after a nearly three-year absence that many in Denver felt deeply.
New co-owners Ashley and Jeff Moerke said they are working to reopen the space by May, pending final approval of a liquor license.
For two decades, Blake Street Tavern stood as one of downtown’s most recognizable sports bars, drawing crowds for Rockies Opening Day, playoff runs and major sporting events. On busy days, lines stretched down the block as fans packed inside, watching games across dozens of screens and gathering in a space that many described as more than just a bar.
The tavern closed in April 2023 after 20 years in business. At the time, ownership did not publicly cite a specific reason for the closure.
