Colorado native Davis Bryant set for PGA Tour debut after strong finish in Germany | Golf Insider
Colorado native Davis Bryant has been all over the world since his win at the 2024 Inspirato Colorado Open.
And now that journey heads to the PGA Tour.
Bryant will be part of the field at the ISCO Championship this week on the PGA Tour. The tournament starts Thursday at Hurstbourne Country Club in Louisville, Ky. The event is considered an opposite field tournament because many PGA players are playing in the Genesis Scottish Open. Both tournaments are co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and PGA Tour.
A tie for fourth at the BMW International in Munich gave Bryant a spot in the ISCO Championship. It was his best finish since beginning play on the DP World Tour, which he qualified for last year at DP World Q-school.
His week in Germany included a hole-in-one on Friday, which led to a second-round 63 and the lead going into the weekend. It was the 25-year-old’s 10th start on the DP World Tour.
“I don’t feel like I’ve played my best golf since Q-School, to be honest,” Bryant said after the round. “I had some time off over the holidays, played some HotelPlanner Tour events to start the year, and feel like my game is starting to get back to where I want it to be.
“I don’t really know what happened today. I think the ace kind of jumpstarted things.”
The previous week, Bryant finished in a tie for tenth at the Italian Open, which was his best finish before the tie for fourth in Munich. In the last year, the CSU alum has played in Austria, Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Germany, China and Abu Dhabi.
All of those trips have been since Bryant defeated fellow Colorado native Jim Knous at the Inspirato Colorado Open last year. Bryant became the first player from Colorado to win the open since Jonathan Kaye in 2017.
Bryant, who is from Aurora, has a long history of playing at Green Valley Ranch, where the Inspirato Colorado Open is held. That win was extremely special to him.
“I’ve always dreamt of walking up to this green and having a chance to win this tournament. To be able to do that today is pretty special,” Bryant said after winning at Green Valley Ranch. “It’s something I’ve wanted to experience since I was about 6 years old.”
Bryant also won the Wyoming State Open in 2024.
He starred at Eaglecrest High, where he won the 2017 CHSAA 5A state championship. He then headed to Colorado State, where he was All-Mountain West three times and a PING All-American in 2019. He was also the CGA Player of the Year in 2019.
Now his PGA Tour journey starts at 6:13 a.m. Thursday on the 10th hole at Hurstbourne Country Club. He is paired with Beau Hossler and Brandon Robinson Thompson.

Several players with Colorado ties set for The Ascendant presented by Blue
The state’s only annual professional golf tournament will have local flavor.
When the Korn Ferry Tour’s The Ascendant presented by Blue tees off on Thursday, several players with Colorado ties will be vying for the title.
Air Force graduates Kyle Westmoreland and Tom Whitney are part of the field. Westmoreland won early this year on the PGA Tour, and both players have spent time on the PGA Tour.
Additional players in the field with ties to Colorado include qualifiers Connor Jones (Colorado State alum from Westminster) and Sangha Park (Colorado Christian University alum). Jones made match play at the U.S. Amateur at Cherry Hills in 2023. Park was part of Colorado Christian’s record-breaking team this past season.
Sponsor exemptions were given to Zahkai Brown (Colorado State alum from Westminster) and 17-year-old amateur Brayden Forte (Aurora).
University of Denver alum and Littleton native Chris Korte is also set to tee off at TPC Colorado.

What I’m thinking
It’s hard to understand why the major golf season is over in a couple weeks.
After the Open Championship at Royal Portrush next weekend, the majors are over and professional golf kind of slows down … in the middle of July.
The move of the PGA Championship to May has created this weird void where there is still summer left and no meaningful golf to be played on the professional level. And the FedEx Cup playoffs are not even close to the excitement of a major championship.
Even with golf ratings higher than they ever have been, the PGA Tour schedule still needs a ton of work. There are too many weird stretches where the tournaments are lacking.
Let’s move the PGA back to August. Remember the “Glory’s last shot” slogan back in the day? It needs to come back.

What they’re saying
“I’ve been spoiled to play at a pretty high level for quite some time. This has been a fun experience to try to get back on the horse.”
– Xander Schauffele on coming back from his injuries after winning two majors last season.
