Denver weather: Sunny, warm ahead of Friday snow
Sunny, clear skies are on tap for Denver on Wednesday, but meteorologists said snow is in the forecast later this week.
The National Weather Service in Boulder said to expect a high of 67 degrees in Denver on Wednesday. That’s about 6 degrees warmer than the average high for April 15 in Denver, according to weather service archive data.
Denver could see wind gusts up to 18 mph Wednesday, meteorologists said.
Temperatures are expected to reach 76 degrees Thursday in Denver before a cold front moves in, forecasters said.
“It’s been a while, but wintry weather conditions will return for Friday with much colder temperatures and some snow,” the weather service said. “Mostly light accumulations expected on the plains, but a few inches in most mountains and foothills.”
Meteorologists said there’s about a 70% chance of precipitation in Denver on Friday. That precipitation could come as a rain/snow mix before 9 a.m. Friday, switching to snow after that.
Areas west of Highway 93 could see some minor impacts from the winter weather on Friday, according to the weather service.
There’s a 50% chance of snow overnight Friday into Saturday, the forecasters said.
