Denver police send “all clear” to whole city after arresting robbery suspects

Denver residents may have been left confused after receiving an all clear alert at around 2 p.m. Saturday.

Denver police initially sent out a shelter in place alert at about 1:30 for the area of West Gunnison Drive and South Zuni Street after a police spokesperson said an individual was robbed at gunpoint in the area. Police sent out the alert to a one-block radius as police searched for the suspects, who fled into a nearby residence.

Two were arrested, police said, prompting the all clear. But police mistakenly sent the all clear to the whole city instead of just the area where the robbery occurred. Police said they are looking into what happened.

This is the second time an alert was sent citywide by mistake. On Jan. 17, a barricaded suspect prompted an alert that was sent to the entire city, instead of just a two-block radius near where the incident was happening.
