Colorado ski area extends season with later closing date
Arapahoe Basin Ski Area is extending its ski season for another weekend.
After receiving 14 inches of snow this week, Arapahoe Basin announced on Saturday that closing day is extended to May 10. According to a Facebook post from the resort, it will close from May 4-7 and then reopen Friday – Sunday, May 8-10 for closing weekend.
Although A-Basin was already set to have the longest ski season in Colorado, the new closing date means it will also be the last ski area to close in the Centennial State. Copper Mountain is scheduled to close on Sunday, May 3.
There will be $39 lift tickets available for closing weekend, and those with an A-Basin or Ikon Pass for next season can ski now through closing weekend. A-Basin also said that Midweek Passes have access all week long.
Lifts are scheduled to run as usual through the extended weekend, open on Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. However, the resort did note that no beginner terrain is open at this time.
There will be live music in the Base Area on Saturday and Sunday to celebrate the end of the ski season.
