Castle Rock bar sees second fire in as many days
A bar in Castle Rock has caught fire twice in the past two days.
Hideaway Bar and Grill, located at 600 Jerry St. in Castle Rock, first caught fire just after 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Castle Rock firefighters responded and put out the fire, and while nobody was injured, the business was damaged.
The owners of the bar started a GoFundMe to raise money for the 21 staff members who would be out of work as the restaurant was closed and rebuilt due to the fire. The bar caught fire again just before 4 a.m. Wednesday, which owners of the bar said on Facebook was a “suspicious” fire.
Castle Rock fire officials told 9News the fire was under control by about 5:15 a.m. Wednesday. Fire Chief Norris Croom said the Wednesday fire was not a rekindling of the Tuesday fire, 9News reported.
The bar’s owners said on Facebook that a person was in custody in relation to the fires. A man was arrested after the fire on unrelated charges and is believed to be a person of interest in the two fires, a Castle Rock Police Department spokesperson said.
The Go Fund Me has raised more than $12,000.
“Funds raised will be distributed to each staff member to help with individual needs, such as rent, groceries, and other living expenses while they are out of work,” acccording to the GFM post. “Our amazing community has always supported our staff.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
