Youth hockey coach in Highlands Ranch arrested on child sex abuse charges

A youth hockey coach in Highlands Ranch has been arrested and is accused of child sex crimes.

Rory Nathaniel Mushlin, 40, of Colorado Springs, was arrested in Douglas County on Thursday. He faces charges of internet sexual exploitation of a child, obscenity, unlawful sexual electronic communication by a person in a position of trust and sexual assault of a child under 15 by a person in a position of trust.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Mushlin has served as a youth hockey coach at South Suburban Sports Complex in Highlands Ranch since 2023. He also participated at the Parker Field House and the Family Sports Center in Arapahoe County.

Police said they have identified multiple underage victims, and are currently looking for any additional victims.

Authorities are encouraging anyone with information or parents who believe their children may have had contact with Mushlin to reach out to the Douglas County Sheriff’s office and ask for detective Clay, who can be reached by email at [email protected].

Mushlin is being held in the Douglas County jail on $75,000 bond. The investigation remains open, police said.
