Thornton police make arrest in fatal shooting at party
Thornton police have arrested a teenager in connection with a homicide that happened over the weekend.
The shooting took place at a house party just before 1:45 a.m. Sunday in the 3600 block of East 91st Avenue, Thornton Police Department officers said previously. A 44-year-old man was shot; officers provided the man with medical aid and he was transported to a hospital, where he died.
Officials have not yet identified the man who was killed. Police said witnesses said the shooter fled the scene before police arrival.
Later Sunday evening, Thornton police arrested Cesear Alberto Licon, 18, after police obtained a warrant for his arrest following the initial investigation. He faces a murder charge and was booked into the Adams County jail, where he remained Tuesday. His bond has not been set.
Police did not say what the relationship between Licon and the victim was or what might have led to the shooting.
