New evacuation order issued for Ferris Fire

The San Miguel and Dolores County Sheriffs have issued an evacuation order on Sunday for Evacuation Zone 16 for the Ferris Fire, which includes properties on the Dolores/San Miguel County line about one mile east of the Dolores River Canyon rim.

According to the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office, it is a mandatory evacuation order to leave immediately. Evacuees must check in at the evacuation center at the Dolores Senior Center in Dove Creek at 8540 Rd. 7.2 to provide contact information and receive reentry credentials and other critical information.

Livestock and other large animals can be taken to the Montezuma County Fairgrounds at 30100 US-160 in Cortez.
