State government offices in Denver metro to close Monday due to snowstorm

All Colorado government offices in the Denver metro area will be closed Monday because of hazardous road conditions created by the weekend snowstorm.

Denver has been hit with nearly 20 inches of snow as of 4 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. The city is under accident alert as high winds and packed snow lead to dangerous driving conditions.

The state government offices were originally planned to operate on a two-hour delay; however, officials opted to close the offices instead as blizzard conditions continued throughout Sunday.

“Coloradans are strongly encouraged to avoid Sunday night travel unless absolutely necessary,” the state said in a release. “The state continues closely monitoring this winter storm.”

Denver Public Schools, several other districts to close Monday for snow day

The Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center, Denver Juvenile Court and all courts and probation offices in Jefferson County, Gilpin Count, Adams County, Broomfield County, Boulder County and the 18th Judicial District will also be closed.

State employees who work from home will maintain their regular work schedules.

State facilities essential to public health and safety will maintain regular operating schedules. Essential personnel must report to work at their normal scheduled time.
