Denver weather: Hot and hazy Friday

Denver is forecast to see lingering areas of smoke and haze Friday with a slight chance of showers heading into the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

There’s a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast, mainly after noon. Expect mostly sunny skies, hot conditions and a high of 97 degrees. 

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for the Denver area due to the hot temps, hazy skies and isolated thunderstorms anticipated through areas of higher elevation through Sunday.

“The main threat with the storms through the weekend will be strong wind gusts topping 50 mph and hail,” the weather service said.

Looking ahead to Friday night, a 20% chance of showers persists through midnight. Expect mostly clear skies and a low of 63 degrees.

Temps will stay hot through next week with a chance for storms returning to the area Sunday.

Saturday: Expect sunny skies and a high of 96 degrees.

Sunday: There’s a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast, mainly after 3 p.m. Expect mostly sunny skies and hot conditions and a high of 99 degrees.

Monday: There’s a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Expect mostly sunny skies and a high of 96 degrees.

Tuesday: There’s a slight chance of showers in the forecast after noon. Expect partly sunny skies and a high of 94 degrees.
