Denver Startup Week, the downtown event for entrepreneurs that drew thousands last year, is returning in September for its 13th year.

The three-day event will go from Sept. 17-19, the according to startup week’s website, a more condensed time frame to allow participants to take a day or two off to attend more events rather than fit it within their work week schedule.

The startup event is organized by volunteers and the Downtown Denver Partnership with various programs spread across the city center.

This will be the first year with “Community Events,” where participants can create their own meetups, coffee sessions, yoga or activities during the week that will be posted on the event’s website if it follows its guidelines.

These sessions are meant to be “for the community, by the community,” its website said, and organizers are responsible for setting and marketing their own events.

Denver Startup Week is hosting another pitch competition on Sept. 21 with applications opening July 20. Submissions are due Aug. 25 and semi-finalists will be announced in early September.

As the event streamlines into a tighter schedule, the tracks are also simplified.

There will be four tracks participants can sign up for: grow, create, operate and ignite.

The first track “Grow” will focus on scaling a business idea. “Create,” the second, will walk through how to bring a product or service to life. The third track “Operate” will talk about team management and culture building while the “Ignite” track will highlight the best of the other tracks and other trends to watch for in the startup space.

Last year, some of the main topics revolved around artificial intelligence, diversity, and rising industries such as green energy technology.

Registrations are open at denverstartupweek.org.
