Boulder County opens applications for food and agriculture project fund

Applications opened Friday for Boulder County’s 2021 Sustainable Food and Agriculture Fund, supplying grants for environmental sustainability projects that benefit the county’s food and agricultural system.

The fund, run by Boulder County’s Office of Sustainability, Climate Action and Resilience, offers the one-time grants to farmers, agricultural producers, businesses and nonprofits.

Colorado requests disaster declaration for state’s wine industry

Projects must be regarding one of four areas within food and agriculture: on-farm regenerative agriculture and soil health practices; on-farm and farmer’s market infrastructure; sustainable local food and crop production; or education, conferences and workshops on sustainable and regenerative agriculture.

Applicants can apply for $40,000 to $150,000 in funding per project or $2,000 to $5,000 for the small project fund.

Boulder County passes strictest fracking regulations in the state

Last year, the Sustainable Food and Agriculture Fund awarded $305,000 to seven farms to fund projects including perennial planting, cover cropping, regenerative grazing, no-till drilling and smart irrigation.

Applications are available online at bouldercounty.org. Application materials are due by Jan. 6 at 11:59 p.m.
