Where good news shines

Denver Pioneers star Eric Pohlkamp is a finalist for college hockey’s top award.

A native of Brainerd, Minnesota, Pohlkamp is the nation’s top scorer among defensemen with 17 goals. No. 4 Denver hosts No. 6 Minnesota Duluth in the NCHC Championship game at Magness Arena at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Pohlkamp previously was named First-Team All-NCHC and the NCHC Offensive Defenseman of the Year. He’s up for the conference Player of the Year award. There are 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Award, which will be announced on April 10.
