Firestone car crash leaves woman in critical condition

A woman was critically injured in a car crash in Firestone and her family is trying to raise financial support.

Shelley Ibarra was involved in a collision May 26 that left her with injuries including internal bleeding, 11 broken ribs, a broken pelvis and a broken ankle, her daughter told The Denver Gazette.

The crash occurred while Ibarra was at the intersection of the East Interstate 25 Frontage Road and Firestone Boulevard, according to Fox31 News.

The incident has greatly affected her family, which includes five daughters and four granddaughters, they said.

“She has always been the first person to show up for others in their time of need, and now she needs all of us to show up for her,” a GoFundMe page for Ibarra said.

Ibarra has received several life-saving surgeries but requires therapy to regain independence, according to an update on the GoFundMe.

Ibarra’s family is asking for funds to cover medical and daily living expenses.
