News Nuggets: Shred-A-Thon, bookmobiles and voting system testing
The Denver Police Department will host a community Shred-A-Thon from 8 – 11 a.m. June 13 at 1601 Park Ave. The annual event, in partnership with Metro Denver Crime Stoppers, Iron Mountain and Shred It, offers residents a professional and secure way to dispose of old tax records, bank statements, medical paperwork and other confidential documents.
Documents will be shredded on-site. There is a limit of three boxes of documents per vehicle and a donation of $20 per car is suggested. Proceeds benefit the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers program.
More bookmobiles to serve southeast Denver
Two new bookmobiles will soon roll out, expanding access to books and resources for Denver Public Library users in southeast Denver, the organization recently announced. The new bookmobiles will support those communities impacted by temporary branch closures during upcoming bond-funded renovations planned for 2026.
DPL’s existing bookmobiles operate on an every-other-week schedule, but the two new Southeast vehicles will provide weekly service at the impacted locations.
Customers may browse collections, pick up held books and check out library materials.
In addition to the new bookmobiles, DPL has announced expanded hours at the Virginia Village Branch Library and Ross-Cherry Creek Branch Library.
For more information on bookmobile services, call (720) 865-1111 or visit: denverlibrary.org/southeast for updates on bookmobile services to the area.

The test will be conducted by bipartisan representatives with Clerk López, Elections Director Todd Davidson, and Operations Manager Jimmy Flanagan on hand to speak about the process and the importance of the legally required test.
