FBI searching for ‘BYOB Bandit’ after allegedly robbing 4 banks
The four robberies took place throughout Denver in May
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Denver police are searching for a masked robber — known as the ‘BYOB Bandit’ by FBI Denver Division investigators — who allegedly robbed four area banks within the month of May.
The robber is believed to be responsible for four robberies starting May 1, with three of the four robberies have taken place on East Colfax Avenue and two occurring at the same Chase Bank 16 days apart, according to a press release from the FBI.

The alleged robberies include:
- May 1, at approximately 3:10 p.m., at Chase Bank, 6160 E. Colfax Avenue
- May 8, at approximately 3:50 p.m., at UMB Bank, 3515 N. Quebec Street
- May 17, at approximately 3:40 p.m., at Chase Bank, 6160 E. Colfax Avenue
- May 22, at approximately 12:40 p.m., at UMB Bank, 1635 E. Colfax Avenue
The BYOB Bandit moniker comes from the man bringing a different bag to each robbery despite wearing a similar black sweatshirt and ski mask.
The suspect is described as a Black male, 5’9” – 6’0” tall, medium build, between 40- to 55-years-old and has a gray beard or facial hair, according to the press release.
“Be aware of anyone similar who might have recently changed their spending habits or discussed coming into money suddenly,” the FBI said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the FBI at 1-800-225-5324 or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 to remain anonymous.
