Commerce City homicide suspect turns himself in

Angel Lozano, 19, turned himself in Monday evening in connection to a potential homicide

A man turned himself in to the Commerce City Police Department in connection to a homicide that occurred on Monday.

Officers began searching for Angel Lozano, 19, following a shooting at 78th Avenue and Dahlia Street around 8 a.m. on Monday. Officers had found a man in his 20s deceased at the scene. He has yet to be identified.

Following preliminary investigations, Lozano became a suspect. Authorities began searching for the man, alerting locals via the department’s social media accounts.

“He may be having a mental health crisis and could be armed/dangerous,” Commerce City Police said on the social media platform X.

Initial investigations showed that the victim and Lozano knew each other, according to the Commerce City Police Department. Lozano was still considered a possible threat to the public, though.

Lozano reported to the Commerce City Police Department and turned himself in around 6 p.m. on Monday, according to the department.

Official charges have not been announced by the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. The identity of the victim will be released by the Adam’s County Coroner’s Office following notification of family and an autopsy.
