Outdoor pools, activities and more fitness centers to reopen in Denver
Denver Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced its second phase of reopening will begin on June 7, which will reopen outdoor pools, registered activities and programs, and open additional weight and cardio spaces in recreation centers across the city.
The reopening is part of the department’s gradual reopening and will allow the public to access the Athmar, Montclair, Cook, Hiawatha Davis and Rude recreation centers, according to a release from DPR.
“With the recent removal of capacity limits and social distancing requirements, we will continue to focus on safety as we being opening more of our facilities, programs and actives,” said Happy Haynes, executive director of the department.
Additionally, eight outdoor pools will reopen for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic forced a stay-at-home order in March of 2020. The pools will be open through Aug. 14 for aqua aerobics, lap swimming, group swimming lessons and open swim.

On May 3, DPR reopened three of its fitness centers — Carla Madison, Eisenhower and Green Valley Ranch — only to those with reservations. Those have since been lifted, according to the release.
MY Denver activités and the Tase Food Meal Program will continue to offer people aged 5 through 18 an afternoon meal at several locations, while Seven Summer in the Parks youth day camps and Youth Sports Camp also will resume in June.
Additional reopening of fitness centers, pools, and other activities will continue throughout the summer.
