26-year-old motorcyclist killed in Aurora crash

The fatal crash happened at the intersection of East Iliff Avenue and South Havana Street

A 26-year-old man was killed on Sunday evening when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a vehicle in west Aurora.

The crash happened around 10 p.m. at the intersection of East Iliff Avenue and South Havana Street when, Aurora police said, the motorcyclist ran a red light and crashed into the side of a white Dodge Caravan that was making a left turn in front of him.

The motorcyclist, who was on a white sport bike heading north on Havana Street, was then hit a second time by a black Chevy sedan, which was also turning left on a green arrow, police said.

The 26-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene, authorities said. His identity will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office pending family notification and an autopsy.

The drivers of the white Dodge and the black Chevy stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.

Police said it was the 64th traffic death in Aurora this year.
