Broomfield officer involved in fatal shooting Wednesday night

One man shot and killed following a domestic-related incident

A Broomfield police officer shot and killed a man following a domestic incident on Wednesday evening, the agency said. The officer has now been placed on administrative leave.

Broomfield Police Department officers responded to a “domestic-related incident” at the Village Square Apartments in the 700 block of Burbank Street around 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, according to a social media post by the department. The shooting was then reported nearby in the 600 block of Alter Street around 11 p.m.

Responders took the victim to the hospital where he later died of his injuries, according to a subsequent post. The investigation is in its early stages.

Per protocol, the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave while the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) of the 17th Judicial District investigates the shooting.
