‘Wingsuit’ skydiver dies in Colorado accident
A skydiver diving in Longmont, Colorado has passed away following an accident on January 27.
According to Longmont Public Safety, the 36-year-old male skydiver was wearing a wingsuit at the time of the deadly incident. The deceased has not been identified, other than that he was a resident of a mountain community near the Denver metro.
The skydiver was participating in the sport with Mile High Skydiving at the time of his death, found deceased south of the Longmont airport. Law enforcement and rescue crews were called to the scene at about 3:27 p.m.
Condolences go out to those impacted by this death.
Wingsuit skydiving involves the use of a suit with webbing between the arms and legs, which helps to generate more lift and extend flight time opposed to free-falling. Wingsuit divers also wear a parachute to pull once they’re ready to do so.
