Intense rescue mission takes place after climber falls 60 feet off Colorado cliffside
An intense technical rescue took place on Saturday morning in Colorado, with Loveland Fire Rescue reporting that their team responded to an incident that involved a climber taking a 60-foot-fall from a cliffside.
A technical rope rescue was conducted in the area of 5400 Glade Road. This address isn’t located directly near any climbing area listed on popular route-finding resource Mountain Project, but the road does run along the side of 6,893-foot Milner Mountain, found on the northwest side of the city.
The rescue effort was deemed “largely successful” thanks to support from multiple agencies, including Larimer County Emergency Services, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, local park rangers, Thompson Valley Emergency Medical Services, Lifeline aerial support, and Loveland Fire Rescue Authority.
In a social media post about the incident, the public praised actions of those involved, with several witnesses also noting how complicated and intensive the rescue appeared to be.
Details regarding the climber’s health status were not released, though it was noted that the climber was transported to the Medical Center of the Rockies for care.
