Motorcycle reportedly caught traveling more than 70 MPH over speed limit in Colorado
A motorcycle was caught speeding at 116 mph in a 45 mph area near S. Kipling and W. Bowles, according to a social media post from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The JCSO said that the motorcyclist was caught by a traffic unit deputy on Friday.
“The rider now faces a judge who will confront this disregard for life and safety with the gravity it deserves,” reads the post.
Another excessive speeding incident occurred on Monday on Highway 85 North of Eaton. According to an X post from the Weld County Sheriff, a Chevy Impala was clocked going 106 mph in a 65 mph zone.
A deputy initiated a traffic stop, and the driver, John Maes Jr., was pulled over. The deputy conducted a driving under the influence investigation and determined that Maes Jr. was driving under the influence of alcohol. Maes Jr. was arrested. He faces charges of driving a vehicle under restraint, failure to drive in a single lane, speeding (20-24 mph over), and driving a vehicle while under the influence.
All charges are accusations, and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The Weld County Sherriff’s Office also noted in the post that its patrol division has arrested 118 drivers for DUI this year.
“The sheriff’s office is dedicated to keeping our county roads safe – not just from impaired drivers, but from anyone choosing to drive irresponsibly,” reads the X post.
All suspects are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and all charges are merely accusations.
