Winner of Colorado’s ‘best state park’ bracket known for water recreation and stunning views
Governor Jared Polis hosted another bracket this year inspired by March Madness to celebrate Colorado’s 43 state parks and to allow Coloradans to vote for their favorite picks.
The two parks in the final matchup were Lathrop State Park and Roxborough State Park with Lathrop announced as the ultimate champion.
Coloradans were able to vote for their favorite state parks in the comments on social media posts by Governor Polis.
“Colorado is home to 43 state parks, offering every Coloradan and visitor with a range of activities to enjoy our iconic outdoors,” said Governor Polis in a press release. “I am very excited that Lathrop was voted Colorado’s favorite state park. Lathrop has a deep history in Colorado and was named as Colorado’s first state park in 1962. Since becoming a state park, Lathrop has become a boater’s and angler’s paradise, with fantastic views of the Spanish Peaks. I hope all Coloradans have a chance to visit Lathrop.”
Lathrop State Park is located in Walsenburg and was the state’s first state park. It spans 1,451 acres and is known for water recreation.
