New evacuations ordered for Willow Fire near Leadville
New evacuations for the Willow Creek Fire, burning southwest of Turquoise Lake and west of Leadville, were announced on Sunday morning. Residents in the areas of Lake Fork, Stargazer Circle and County Road 11 were asked to evacuate.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), everyone in these areas must be evacuated by noon on Sunday. Evacuation shelters have been established at the Public Safety Complex at 200 Steele Drive, Buena Vista and Battle Mountain High School at 151 Miller Ranch Road, Edwards.
Additionally, Colorado Mountain College (CMC) is no longer an evacuation center and salamander (reentry) cards can be retrieved from the evacuation shelters in Buena Vista and Edwards.
According to an update posted to the Willow Fire Facebook page, the fire is now at 3,957 acres and at 1 percent containment.
