1. Minnesota Wild at Avalanche (7 p.m. Sunday, TNT) — After a nice rest, the Avs are back on the ice to face the Wild in Game 1. Will Colorado show rust or rest?

2. New York Mets at Rockies (6:40 p.m. Monday, Rockies.tv) — The last time the Rockies faced the Mets, Colorado swept in New York. Now the reeling Mets visit Coors Field for a three-game set.

3. Los Angeles Lakers at Oklahoma City Thunder (TBD Tuesday) — Who are Nuggets fans rooting for in Game 1 of this series? There doesn’t seem to be a good answer.

Minus-18 — Jamal Murray’s plus-minus during the Nuggets’ Game 6 loss Thursday. Murray, who could be named All-NBA this season, did not have his regular strong playoff performance.

On this day

May 3, 2025 — The Nuggets routed the Clippers 120-101 at Ball Arena in Game 7 of the first round. At the same time, the Avs blew a 2-0 lead to lose Game 7 to the Dallas Stars.

Final word

Playing teams from Minnesota in the playoffs has not been kind to the Nuggets or the Avalanche. In the playoffs, the Nuggets have lost four straight in Minnesota while the Avs have dropped three in a row. The overall series record is no better as the Avs are 1-2 against the Wild and the Nuggets are 1-4 against the Timberwolves. The pressure is on the Avalanche to break the Minnesota curse.
