Construction to cause I-70 ramp closures next weekend

Next week’s construction on Interstate 70 will cause ramp closures from Friday night to Monday morning, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced.

The westbound I-70 off-ramp to Colorado Boulevard will be closed beginning on Oct. 16 at 8 p.m. until Oct. 19 at 5:30 a.m.

As an alternative route, motorists will be directed to use the westbound I-70 off-ramp to Brighton Boulevard then get back onto eastbound I-70 and exit to Colorado Boulevard.

The closure will allow crews to continue work on the new Colorado Boulevard bridge above I-70.

This is part of CDOT’s Central 70 Project. The $1.2-billion project is reconstructing 10 miles of I-70 between Brighton Boulevard and Chambers Road to add an express lane, remove aging viaduct and lower the bridge between Brighton Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard.

The construction work is weather dependent and subject to change.
