After 80 straight days of providing shelter for Coloradans experiencing wildfire evacuations, the last American Red Cross wildfire shelter closed last week.

Red Cross has given shelter and assistance to victims of the Cameron Peak, East Troublesome, Calwood and Lefthand Canyon fires since October, in addition to victims of Wyoming’s Mullen Fire.

Since then, Red Cross has provided 38,767 overnight stays, 64,774 meals and 2,015 cleanup kits and recovery supplies.

The four Colorado chapters responded to 67 service calls, assisting 157 people across 64 counties in November.

The Cameron Peak and East Troublesome fires were the two largest to ever burn in Colorado, burning 208,913 and 193,812 acres respectively. Both fires are 100% contained as of Wednesday.
