Aurora man attempts to take back stolen vehicle, gets shot

An Aurora man realized his car had been stolen Tuesday, attempted to recover it himself and ended up getting shot in the arm, according to police.

The victim had his car stolen in Aurora early Tuesday morning, according to a social media post by the Aurora Police Department. He tracked the car’s location to Denver and attempted to recover it around 5 a.m. He shared the tracking info with Aurora police. 

The suspect allegedly shot the victim in the arm while he attempted to take back the vehicle.

Police located the car around 6 a.m. in Aurora and attempted to stop it. The vehicle took off, leading to a short pursuit. The driver eventually crashed at 6th Avenue and Del Mar Circle.

The suspect was taken into custody, according to the post.

Denver police are investigating the shooting while Aurora police are investigating the car theft.
