Denver shuts down two roads for construction work

Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure will be closing down two sections of busy streets for an immediate repair and ongoing construction. One closure remains for the entire weekend.
The department shut down a small section of the Lincoln Street Bridge between 6th and 7th Avenues late Wednesday evening for “emergency” repairs, according to a news release from DOTI.
The work has closed the two far-right lanes, including the bus-only lanes, and one of the two left turn lanes from 6th Avenue eastbound onto northbound Lincoln Street.
Along with the emergency work, the department will shut down a part of Champa Street near the Colorado Convention Center over the weekend as they reroute the roads back to their pre-construction paths.

Champa Street between 14th Street and Speer Boulevard will fully close at 12:00 a.m. Friday through 11:59 p.m. Monday.
The road was originally shifted in spring of 2021 to make room for construction cranes supporting the $233 million Colorado Convention Center expansion project — which included the new 80,000-square-foot Bluebird Ballroom, 35,000 square feet of wrap-around pre-function concourse space and 20,000-square-foot outdoor rooftop terrace, according to Visit Denver.
The project was completed at the end of 2023. Now, roads will return to their original state.
The weekend detour will move drivers down 14th Avenue to Glenarm Place, then down to Speer Boulevard to circumvent the Champa Street closure.
