Two overnight car crashes leave 1 dead, 2 injured in metro area

Two separate car crashes in Aurora and Denver left one person dead, one pedestrian seriously injured and another person suffering from minor injuries overnight Friday.

The first crash occurred in the area of 10th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, right on the edge of Lakewood, around 9:30 p.m. A vehicle allegedly struck a pedestrian, leaving them with serious injuries, the Denver Police Department said in a social media post.

The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital and both directions of 10th Avenue were closed during the investigation. 

The second crash occurred at the intersection of Airport Boulevard and East 22nd Avenue, in the Norfolk Glen neighborhood of Aurora, around 9:30 p.m. Friday. Four vehicles were involved in the crash, according to a social media post by the Aurora Police Department.

One person died during the crash and another was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, according to the department. 

Airport Boulevard was closed between Colfax Avenue and East 22nd Avenue until 1 a.m. Saturday during the investigation.
