Wheat Ridge Police on Thursday identified and released photos of a man suspected of shoplifting at a King Soopers and crashing into three vehicles, including a police patrol car, as he fled the scene.
Police are looking for Francisco Gonzales, 37, related to the series of incidents Wednesday at the King Soopers at 3400 Youngfield St.
It started when officers responded to a shoplifting call. When officers arrived on scene, two suspects tried to drive away. The driver clipped a Hyundai SUV, drove over a curb and smashed into a Toyota SUV. A patrol car got behind the suspect vehicle, but the driver reversed, hit the patrol car and drove out of the parking lot, said a police spokesman.
No officers were hurt. A person who was in one of the vehicles that was hit was injured and taken to a hospital. That person was treated and released.
Officers caught the vehicle at West 42nd Avenue and Youngfield Street, where they arrested a female suspect who was taken to a hospital.
Gonzales ran to the Clear Creek trailhead. Police searched the area but didn’t find him.
Gonzales is 6-foot-3.
Anyone who has information on Gonzales’ location is asked to call 911.
