An 18-year-old Denver man pleaded guilty to the shooting and killing of a 16-year-old girl back in 2022.

Deontre Hollie pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for shooting and killing Tayanna Manuel and first-degree assault for shooting and injuring of another victim in northeast Denver, according to a Monday social media post by the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

Denver police responded to a 911 call and found Manuel’s body behind a dumpster at 4927 N. Sedalia St. — an apartment complex in Denver — around 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 26. She had a gunshot wound to the head and appeared to have been dragged behind the dumpster, according to the arrest affidavit.

Another juvenile victim was found shot and critically injured at 4699 N. Kittredge St. on Dec. 23. He survived his injuries.

Prior to Hollie’s arrest, prosecutors alleged that Hollie shot the male victim and Manuel on the same night.

Police arrested Hollie, who was 17 years old at the time, on Jan. 21, 2023. He was charged as an adult.

Hollie eventually pleaded guilty to both incidents. He faces up to 80 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 20, according to the district attorney’s office.
