Aurora police investigating fatal pedestrian crash

The Aurora Police Department is investigating a Thursday evening crash that left one pedestrian dead.

Officers responded to a crash around 10 p.m. on South Chambers Road, just south of Iliff Avenue in southeast Aurora, according to a news release from the department.

A man was walking across South Chambers Road when he was struck by a sedan, according to the release. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

The driver of the sedan stayed at the scene and helped with the investigation. The driver was not arrested and charges have not yet been announced.

The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim following investigations.

There have been 100 fatal pedestrian crashes between Jan. 1 and Dec. 18, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation’s crash data

There were 122 in the same period last year.
