Westbound I-70 closed in the mountains

Westbound Interstate 70 was closed at Georgetown because of unsafe driving conditions Wednesday, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

“Best option is to stay in Denver,” State Patrol said late in the afternoon on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Eastbound lanes of I-70 were closed at the Eisenhower Tunnel because of a crash east of the tunnel, State Patrol said. Those lanes reopened, according to a social media post around 4:45 p.m.

“Roads slushy. Please maintain slow speeds,” the State Patrol said.

Westbound I-70 lanes remain closed as of 6:30 p.m.
