Plenty to do and celebrate in Denver this weekend

City offices closed on Monday

The City and County of Denver offices — with the exception of police, fire, and 911 — will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day. The city garbage and recycling pickup schedule will be delayed by one day.

Fort Logan Memorial Day Service

Fort Logan National Cemetery will host a Memorial Day service at 11 a.m. Monday. The event is free and open to the public. There will be speakers and a flyover.

Due to ongoing road work, parking is expected to be more limited than usual. Carpooling is encouraged. Fort Logan is at 4400 W. Kenyon Ave. in Denver.

Celebrate City Park Day

Denver’s annual City Park Day returns from 5 to 8 p.m. May 30 with a free Victorian-themed ice cream social and concert. Stop by the City Park Pavilion for free ice cream, live music from the Denver Municipal Band, face painting and more. Victorian costumes are encouraged.

The event is sponsored by City Park Friends and Neighbors, City Park Alliance, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Greater Park Hill Community, District 9 Councilmember Darrell Watson and the Victorian Society of Colorado.

City Park Farmers Market

The Saturday Market at City Park offers locally grown or prepared foods and locally made food products every Saturday at City Park Esplanade, 2551 E. Colfax Ave. in Denver, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Oct. 26. Shoppers will find live, local music and more than 100 food-focused vendors featuring fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, cheese, breads and spreads. For more information and a list of vendors, visit www.parkfarmersmarket.com.

Park Hill Art Festival

The 12th Annual Park Hill Art Festival returns from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 31 and June 1 and will showcase more than 100 juried fine artists and crafters from Colorado and beyond. The two-day outdoor celebration of creativity will be held on the grounds of the Park Hill Masonic Lodge, at 4819 Montview Blvd. in Denver, between Dahlia and Eudora streets.

The event is free and open to the public. For information, visit www.coloradoartweekend.com.
