Thornton police investigating fatal motorcycle crash

The Thornton Police Department is investigating a Friday motorcycle crash that left one rider dead.

The crash occurred near the intersection of East 104th Avenue and Fox Run Parkway — near Grandview Ponds Open Space — around 11 p.m. Friday. 

A 37-year-old man was traveling westbound on East 104th Avenue when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed, according to a press release from the department.

The driver was transported to a nearby hospital and later died. He was not wearing a helmet, police said.

A witness reported that a black SUV had cut in front of the motorcycle, potentially causing him to crash. Investigators are attempting to find more information about the vehicle and its driver.

The Adams County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the motorcycle driver following an autopsy and family notification.
