Motorcyclist dead after three-vehicle crash in Aurora Tuesday night

A motorcyclist died after he was hit by a car that ran a red light and hit two other vehicles in Aurora Tuesday night.

The car, a GMC, was driving northbound on South Buckley Road around 11:30 p.m. when it failed to stop for a red light at East Mississippi Avenue, according to a Wednesday news release from the Aurora Police Department.

As it ran the light, the GMC hit the motorcycle and an Acura that were both turning left onto East Mississippi Avenue, according to the release. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene; no other injuries were reported.

Investigators do not believe speed or alcohol were contributing factors to the crash, they said in the release. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will release the motorcyclist’s identification in the coming days.
