SOCIAL HUB OPENS IN ELYRIA SWANSEA
A new pickleball hangout spot — complete with a restaurant, coffee shop, bar and outdoor patio — opened in Denver’s Elyria Swansea neighborhood last weekend.
Moodwing at 3625 E 48th Ave. celebrated its grand opening on Jan. 9. It’s an adaptive reuse development project that transformed a former plumbing supply warehouse into a social hub. The 43,000-square-foot building was built in the 1950s.
The owners of Moodswing stated they were inspired by the structure’s historic sawtooth roof, adding features such as stained glass Japanese- inspired burnt wood centerpiece wall over its bar.
“Moodswing is where your interests overlap with others’,” said Giovanni Leone, co-founder of Moodswing, in a news release. “No matter what you’re into, there’s something here for you — pet adoption events, Shrek-themed bands, singles speed-dating, pickleball, and outdoor yoga. If you can imagine it, we’ll host it.”
The social hub includes six indoor pickleball courts. It also has six outdoor courts, four of which are heated and two are uncovered. Visitors can rent courts for $20 to $30 an hour, and equipment can be rented for free.
Moodswing also offers coaching for beginners and will have league games three nights a week, the release said.
FAST-CASUAL GREEK FOOD COMES TO HIGHLAND RANCH
Taziki’s, a fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant, opened a new restaurant at the Highland Ranch Town Center on Monday.
For the grand opening, Taziki’s is offering a $7 deal for its Street Gyro meals from Monday to Sunday at both of its Denver metro area locations. It has a second restaurant at Hampden. The meal includes chips and one of its sides.
It’s the chain’s second location in Colorado. Taziki’s was founded in 1998 and is headquartered in Birmingham, Ala.
“We’re grateful for the excitement and support that Highlands Ranch has shown since we opened our doors and we look forward to celebrating with everyone,” said Stefan Dzara, operator of the Highlands Ranch Taziki’s, in a news release. “Our fresh, scratch-made dishes combined with our passion to connect and serve our community make Taziki’s a great fit for Highlands Ranch and the surrounding area.”
The restaurant is located at 1601 Mayberry Drive and is open Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Sundays, it’s open until 8 p.m.
